Everyone is talking about IASTM. What is it?

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation

IASTM is a technique that works like a standard massage, but specialized instruments are used in place of Massage Therapists hands. These instruments allow more direct treatment of the soft tissues involved with movement.

Benefits of IASTM:

-Pain Reduction

-Scar Tissue Management

-Faster Healing of Injuries

-Enhanced Muscle Function

How it works:

IASTM affects the vascular response to the injured soft tissue, through increasing the blood flow. IASTM works at the cellular level. The inflammatory response initiated through micro trauma to the affected tissues results in increased fibroblast proliferation, collagen synthesis, maturation and the remodelling of unorganized collagen fibre matrix following IASTM application. Which result in a breakdown of scar tissues, adhesions and facial restrictions.

Is IASTM the right treatment?

For patients experiencing acute or chronic pain, IASTM can help improve blood flow and stimulate healing in and around the pain area, improving function after one to four treatments.

IASTM is incorporated into most of our Sports Massages here at Bluewater Wellness. Make sure to ask your Massage Therapist if you'd like them to incorporate it into your next Sports Massage!

What is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is where a solution is applied to the face to remove all the dead skin cells & stimulate the growth of new cells.

Chemical peels remove the top layer of dead or damaged skin to reveal smoother, more hydrated skin, so you can achieve that youthful GLOW!

Why is Fall/Winter Peel Season?

Chemical peel season is typically during Fall/Winter due to a lower UV index and heat. Thanks to the reduced sun exposure and moisture content in the air, you can get the best results from your chemical peel.

What are the benefits of a Chemical Peel?

-Helps with uneven skin texture

-Reveals brighter skin

-Improves acne scaring & dark spots

-Diminishes fine lines

What is the best Chemical Peel for you?

We offer a variety of peels here at Bluewater Wellness! For clients with sensitive skin or who want to reduce the appearance of fine lines, a superficial chemical peel such as a Jessner's peel may be the best option. Medium-depth peels, such as TCA peels, can be used to address deeper wrinkles, as well as hyperpigmentation such as melasma and sun spots. We also have the revolutionary BioRePeel, which offers the client no downtime with excessive peeling.

Not sure on which Peel to choose? We have an Esti’s choice option, where your Esthetician will choose the right peel for you.

Is a Chemical Peel safe?

Yes, however it can cause redness, swelling, itching, burning, and scarring for some clients. It's always best to

& increase the risk for infection)
